Volunteering

ACORN was created by volunteers.

Today, ACORN seeks the volunteer who is willing to unselfishly provide strength and support to our organization.

ACORN would like to create a strong volunteer base to help provide a smooth running and efficient office setting. We look for individuals that are self starters and pride themselves on being able to work with the Staff . We also strive to find individuals that have unique talents that can add creativity and "spice" to the agency.

Various areas needing Volunteer Support:
Working in the office:
Answering phones, greeting visitors, putting together ACORN mailings, and other general office duties.

Drivers:
Providing transportation for clients to doctor appointments, shopping, and support groups. ACORN reimburses DRIVERS @ $.39 per mile.

Being a "Buddy":
Working one on one with a client by visiting him/her, providing transportation to doctors' appointments, helping with errands, etc. What an HIV+ "buddy" usually wants most is companionship and a friend to help out.
