ACORN’s Major Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2006
- ACORN continued to provide testing for HIV and Hepatitis C
- Staffing changes brought to ACORN new Director of Prevention/Outreach/Education
- ACORN joined the Hanover, N.H. and Lebanon, N.H. Chamber of Commerce
- ACORN held the first annual Hepatitis-C health Summit in September and attendees came from all over New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts to hear Doctor Brian Berk of DHMC speak and exchange information crucial to the Hepatitis-C Epidemic
- ACORN made plans to move to a larger office in 2007 that will enable the agency to expand its scope of services and open a Food Pantry for client and their families use
- ACORN provided professional case management, advocacy, and related services to 59 individuals living with HIV/AIDS and an additional 127 affected family members. Case managers provided additional services to 8 individuals with Hepatitis-C.
- ACORN distributed more than $40,000 in emergency financial assistance directly to clients living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis-C in our four county catchment areas for a variety of needs. In addition, our case managers distributed more than $ 50,000 in State and Federal financial aid.
- ACORN reached thousands of individuals in the local communities with education and prevention programs at both the high school and secondary school levels as well as in other community venues for both HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis-C.
- ACORN actively sought new funding sources including new grants and other resources as a means of not only continuing the present level of service but to hopefully expand the services available for free to those in the communities served by ACORN.
